Our Roots - The Origins of BROS

We began the journey of this work at the foundation of Organic Mechanic (OM), a wellbeing social enterprise & community specialising in organic smoothies, probiotic kombucha & transformational events, founded in 2013 by 5 brothers from 4 different mothers.

For a bunch of young males living and working together in the same house, amoungst the stresses of business, raising families, losing loved ones, and living in community, we journeyed through some pretty heavy emotions and situations.

In order for us to be successful as a group of young men - counter to the “she’ll be right” male attitude - we needed to foster a culture of processing and integrating our emotions in a healthy way.

From these foundations, the “OM Brotherhood” emerged, which would spin off into it’s own sphere - activating a local community of men through a series of workshops & festivals.

Now known as BROS - the collective waka is now a focused platform to create impact in the lives of tāne / men in Aotearoa & beyond.
